Project Details

Description: TPG Rail Bridge Replacement and New Truss Pedestrian Bridge
Location: QEW Mountain Rd. Niagara Falls, Ontario
Owner: CN Rail
General Contractor: BOT Construction
NRE Role: Assembly / Erection of 4 TPG Rail Spans and Pedestrian Bridge
Year: 2004-2006
Tonnage: ±1000 tons
Overview: The project involved the widening of the QEW from Glendale Avenue to Mountain Rd. which forced the CN rail corridor to be re-structured over the highway. Our scope of work was assembly and erection of four complete TPG spans, each weighing 220 tons. The components were shipped direct to job site, utilizing the rail corridor. All four spans were unloaded and strategically placed for assembly. NRE designed and implemented all assembly false work, unloading and erection procedures. Each span was erected during 15 minute closures of the busy QEW, utilizing a 500 ton crawler complete with superlift attachment. The project was split into two phases to align with the highway widening operations.
