Project Details

Description: Indoor Water Park Facility
Location: Niagara Falls, Ontario
Owner: Great Wolf Lodge
General Contractor: Ledcor Construction
NRE Role: Erection
Year: 2005
Tonnage: ±730 tons
Overview: The project consisted of architecturally exposed structural steel (AESS) for the indoor water park. All steel received a shop applied, three-part high performance paint coating, to protect the steel from the high chlorine content and also to provide an aesthetically pleasing look. The highlight was the site assembly and erection of 25ft deep, long span steel trusses to support the timber framed truss roof. One challenge was the site logistics and limited lay down, due to the size of the trusses and the ongoing ground and concrete preparations. The other challenge was careful handling of the painted steel members.
